On Tuesday (April 6), Southern Methodist College assistant soccer coach, Jamal Powell, died. He was 39.

Powell was simply days away from his fortieth birthday on April 10. 

“We’re deeply saddened to study of the passing of Jamal Powell,” the college’s soccer crew tweeted on Wednesday. “Our hearts and prayers are along with his household and buddies throughout this tough time.”

It isn’t instantly clear what Powell’s reason behind demise is. Based on NBCDFW, He had been battling Guillian-Barré Syndrome, an autoimmune dysfunction, and stage 4 colon most cancers.

A GoFundMe campaign for Powell’s household was created after he was identified.

Powell spent the previous three years at SMU. He was first an offensive line coach, and most not too long ago, served as offensive high quality management analyst.
